Thank you Mr. Hodges

Unfortunately, Mr. Hodges has recently decided to retire as president and hand over those duties to a very competent Mr. Walker Sturdivant.  Although retired, Mr. Hodges will continue to support Beacon Harbor since it is dear to his heart.  I have been very fortunate to get to know Mr. Hodges in the last few months and understand the real passion he has for Beacon Harbor.  As most of you know, Mr. Hodges was the father of one of our past residents, Bob Hodges.  You see, Bob was the inspiration for many of Mr. Hodges projects and if you knew Bob you would understand where that passion came from.
Things really got started for Beacon Harbor in the early 1970s when Mr. Hodges served as president of the United Cerebral Palsy of Leflore Co. which helped establish the Leflore Co. School for the Handicapped also known as Little Red.  When the first group graduated from Little Red he helped start the workshop.  He then had a hand in the purchase of the property on Highway 82 where the old VFW building was converted into the workshop.  On this property Beacon Harbor I was built in 1984 for the first 6 men, then Beacon II in 1987 for 12 ladies.  Finally, in 1990 the third home was built for another 12 ladies.  Through all of this Mr. Hodges has been at the core of the activity making sure things go the right way.  This was all made possible by the perseverance of Mr. Hodges.
We want to thank you, Mr. Hodges for all you have done and all you will continue to do for us.
